Mother Emmanuel

In the wake of the terrible tragedy that occurred in the brutal, racist, hate crime murder of those attending Bible Study at Mother Emmanuel A.M.E. Church in Charleston, SC – there have been many expressions released.  As echoes of an era never passed are found to resound in the hearts of the hateful…ripples from that splash are producing meaningful, heartfelt, healing dialogue.  Warren Cooper was privileged to be asked to participate in such an effort by the renown Hymn Writer and Presbyterian Pastor Carolyn Winfrey Gillette.  In response to the splash of Charleston, she has composed a commemorative hymn entitled THEY MET TO READ THE BIBLE, set to the tune of BENEATH THE CROSS OF JESUS.  It is shared on this site for the free use of congregations seeking to enhance their worship with this resource.
